How This Local Louisville Farm Inspired Us to Create Their Bee Logo

If you’ve been here a while, you know we’re proud of our roots. We come from a long line of farmers, which is part of why we’re so excited to share our recent client story!

Terri and Jonathan are a husband-and-wife duo local to the Louisville area. After years of gardening and woodworking in their free time, they decided to transition their passion into a full-time farm, allowing them to grow, create, and sell at a much larger scale.

And while the practical aspects of the farm were covered, Jonathan and Terri were having trouble conveying their mission and all the different products they offer.

That’s where our part of the story comes in. We partnered with Terri and Jonathan to bring their branding into focus and help them tell their story.

The focus of the brand: why we chose a bee logo

In our very first consultation with Terri, she made it clear that attracting pollinators was part of Rain and Shine’s core mission from the very beginning—even before the purchase of the farm.

Rain and Shine sells freshly-grown produce, ready-to-plant seedlings, cut flowers, hand-carved goods, and more—all things that require beneficial insects. Because of this, we created a logo that incorporates seeds, flowers, and trees with a bee as a centerpiece.

We created a detailed logo design (above) and a pared down version (below).

In addition to this bee logo, we also created written collateral for Rain and Shine, which included product descriptions, a mission statement, and a new slogan: “Taking root in Kentucky.”
